Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa was elected to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in June 2001 to represent the residents of District 6 and has been re-elected twice - most recently in September 2006. Since joining the Board of County Commissioners, Commissioner Sosa has submitted legislation designed to improve the quality of life for the residents of her district and Miami-Dade County
. - The public is invited to a presentation of the Schenley Park Charrette Area Plan report on Wednesday, November 19, at 9:30 a.m. at the downtown Commission Chambers.
Commissioner Sosa pushes for more boater safety education - Commissioner Rebeca Sosa has urged the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC) and the Florida Legislature to make boater safety education for all vessel operators a top priority.

- Concerned over the impacts the $6 billion in budget cuts by the Florida Legislature will have on the elderly population of Miami-Dade County, Commissioner Sosa presented a resolution urging Governor Charlie Crist, the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the Florida Legislature not to reduce funding to critical programs for the elderly, including Community Care for the Elderly, Home Care for the Elderly, the Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative, and Local Services Program.

- The Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution sponsored by Commissioner Rebeca Sosa urging the Secretary of the Interior to designate the Curtiss Mansion in Miami Springs as a National Historic Landmark.
