Voters in District 12 first elected José "Pepe" Diaz to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in September 2002. Commissioner Diaz was reelected without opposition in September 2006.
- The installation of Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez, Chairman Bruno A. Barreiro and Members of the Board of County Commissioners took place at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.
- October 6, 2007 - As thousands of people descended on downtown Miami October 6, 2007 to show their support for the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walkathon, Commissioners Sally A. Heyman, Audrey M. Edmonson, Dorrin D. Rolle, Katy Sorenson and Jose “Pepe” Diaz were right there with them to present a proclamation to the event organizers declaring it “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Day.”
Commissioner Diaz honors military with "Armed Forces Appreciation Celebration" - Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz hosted an “Armed Forces Appreciation Celebration” on Friday, November 21 at Fire Tower in Doral.
- Commissioner Jose “Pepe” Diaz distributed 180 Sedano’s Supermarket gift cards and 150 turkeys at his district office on Wednesday, November 19 for his annual Thanksgiving giveaway.

Are you 60 years old and have no prescription drug coverage? Then the Florida Discount Drug Card might be for you.

This program is designed to lower the cost of virtually all prescriptions for Florida residents. Residents must be 60 years or older without any prescription drug coverage or those who fall into the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Gap. Residents who are 60 years and younger are eligible to enroll if they are also without prescription drug coverage and if they have a annual family income of less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level.
