Miami-Dade County Commissioner Joe A. Martinez was first elected to represent the residents of District 11 in October 2000 and was re-elected by a wide margin for his third term in August 2008. His commission district is mostly comprised of West Dade's unincorporated areas, which includes portions of Kendall.

- All of the names of applicants who completed the online registration between July 1-31, 2008 will be entered into an electronic lottery in which a computer will randomly select the applicant names and assign them two ranking positions, one for the Public Housing, Moderate Rehabilitation and Section 8 New Construction programs and another one for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.
